Etymology of Lord Vishnu
The 1st millennial scholar Yaska in his etymology Niruka defines Lord Vishnu as a god which is present everywhere and one who enters everywhere. He has also stated that Vishu is the one who is free from all bondages and fetters.
Medhatithi, the medieval scholar has also narrated about the god in his scriptures by stating that Vishnu name is associated with etymological roots thus his first three letters of his name Vis means to pervade. That means one who can enter everything.
Therefore Vishnu means all pervasive.

Vishnu Bhagavan is depicted as dark or pale blue complexion with four arms splendid with his beloved wife Lakshmi on a huge snake who has many heads known as Seshanaag. He carries lotus (Padma) in the lower left arm, Mace (Kaumodaki Gada) in lower right hand, Panchajanyashankh in the upper left arm and Discus (Sudarshana Chakra) in an upper right arm.

Components required for the Puja
- Puja items- Idol of Vishnu Ji, incense sticks, lamp, mango leaves, kumkum, turmeric, akshata, Gangajal, and ghee.
- For offerings- fruits, flowers, sweets, coconut, betel nut, curd, honey, sugar, milk (Panchamrita) camphor etc with Puja Samagri.
Vishnu Puja Procedure or Vidhi
- Take bath early morning and keep fast during the day.
- Chant Vishnu Sahastranama and Narayana mantra 108times to make puja successful.

- While offering Asana to Lord Vishnu on the chowki recite Beeja mantra.

Mistakes to avoid during Vishnu Pujan
- Don’t do puja after the meal. This puja should be done by commencing fast throughout the day.
